It’s been a while since I last posted, It’s getting difficult now with Charlie crawling everywhere but for those beautiful photos I had to! If you come to Dubaï, you will want to go on a desert safari as this is THE thing to do here. After taking a helicopter over the Palm Jumeira and an air balloon trip at sunrise in the desert, that was one of the BEST experiences I had here. I hesitated a lot before to book, I was taking my little sister and I wanted her to like it. I had been on a safari a few years back but it wasn’t great, we got stuck in traffic, we missed the sunset, it was very commercial and the staff wasn’t nice at all. You have so many agencies organizing those desert trips it's really hard to make a choice.
We didn’t want to do Dune Bashing because I had a back surgery and my sister doesn’t like it and it wasn’t easy to find a tour without it. So we opted for Platinum Heritage and I don’t regret it one second! It was MA-GI-CAL, everything was perfect, from pick up to the air conditioned mini-bus , to the guide friendly and knowing Dubaï and Emirati culture really well, the trip to the desert was relaxed, the guide Eslam was driving well, not to fast and explaining facts all the way there. When we arrived in the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve (only a few tours operators are allowed to go there) we jumped into Vintage Land-rover car from the 50’s, the first cars used in Dubai. They put some scarfs in our heads like locals and we started our adventure. THE big difference with other safaris is those cars, they are just so cool and the feeling of being in the open air is amazing! We chose the “Heritage Desert Safari” to see some wildlife and just after entering the reserve we saw 2 Oryx which was not guaranteed at all and later we drove by a complete family of Oryx and a baby gazelle. We LOVED IT! We could also see some desert flora. After they stopped us at a view point to admire the extraordinary view on the desert and we watched a falcon show at sunset while sitting on nice cushions and sipping a drink. We finished our trip in their camp, beautiful and authentic, to try Emirati cuisine, went on a Camel, smoked a shisha while watching the stars, played some music with Emirati singers and got a little bit of henna on our hands. The desert safari was 595 aed, you can see more details HERE it is more expensive than other safaris but it is worth it, I highly recommend it and for your info this article is not sponsored Their Camel Desert Safari is also very popular, see HERE the next on my list :) Kiss kiss & enjoy the safari!
