That's it. We are BACK from Maldives' paradise!
Every dream has to end someday, that's what makes it a dream, so unique and beautiful.
After stuffing ourselves with doughnuts and looking back at our photos for hours,
I feel better now and can go back to work all rested.
I always wanted to go to Maldives and being in Dubai it's even more of a temptation as it is so close, but I hesitated a lot because of the expensive cost of this trip, I was thinking:
''Imagine what I could buy with all that money! I could buy a car!''
But now that we have been, I can tell you that I don't regret it at all.
Not even ONE SECOND.
It was the most beautiful and extraordinary travel I have ever done in my whole life and at the end of the day, when we will be old, we won't think about the car we bought or designer bags we owned but we will think about what we did and those unforgettable memories.
I learnt along the way that we never regret any travel because memories don't have a price.
ONCE IN A LIFE TIME
or twice hopefully...
And we thought it was a great idea to go now or it might never be possible after we will have a baby, even though we saw a lot of people with young children there. But it will be different so I am so glad we went just the two of us, we really made the most of that little "Baby Moon". I couldn't drink alcohol and we were on a ''ALL INCLUSIVE'' package, Jason was having fresh beers all the time but I didn't mind, I caught up with lots of desserts everyday!
We stayed at SUN AQUA VILU REEF and everything was PERFECT.
The resort is located on South Nilandhe Atoll next to Meedhoo island.
The first resorts that were built in the Maldives were Kurumba and Bandos in 1972, so all of that is very recent.
That stay was without any doubt the most luxurious and unforgettable of my life:
our little water bungalow, the view, the peaceful atmosphere, the crystal clear water, the colourful fish and baby sharks right under our villa, watching the stingrays getting fed at 6 pm everyday, the comfort, the delicious food, the Maldivian hospitality. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. People often say: "Nothing to do in Maldives!" but it has never been so good to do nothing than in Maldives because it is so beautiful. You don't need to do anything, just appreciate the beauty of the place and relax.
We stayed 5 nights and it was just perfect, not too long and not too short.
Only 4 hours flight from Dubai, it was really easy, after landing in Male, the capital, we were welcomed with a 5 stars service: escorted to a desk by a friendly Maldivian and after 5 minutes in a bus to a "Private Lounge"with fresh juices served directly on a couch-bed, perfect to lie down and rest, a luxurious bathroom and shower, a buffet with snacks, a little outside balcony where we could watch the seaplanes take off.
Only half an hour after, super fast transfer, we took off from the water, with about 10 passengers, the view on the islands and atolls was breathtaking, the different tone of blue and turquoise water from Maldives.
Was just like in magazines. A 40 minutes flight, I was glued to my window, absolutely amazed all the way.
The choice of the hotel was not easy as all hotels look the same but I was so happy with our choice, so here are some little advice to have the best time:
STAY IN A WATER-BUNGALOW
It is the Maldivian experience and it is really worth it! If you chose a beach bungalow it will be more like a classic holiday like you probably had before. We loved to listen to the water from our bed, waking up and having a coffee on our hammock, going down to the water directly from our villa and going snorkeling then going back up and relax in our pool. It was just MAGICAL! We had the villa 438 and I objectively think it was the best as it was not too far from the restaurant, with a sunset view and a view on the beach and the restaurant but no one could really see us.
If you chose to book an "Aqua villa" so the ones with hammock and little pool like our one, you will be on the good side, the Sunset side. The villas with a big pool are more expensive and further away from the restaurant so a lot to walk, no hammock and not the best view!
TAKE THE SEA PLANE
First I was thinking to book a hotel close to Male with a transfer by boat but it would have been a shame not to experience the sea plane! The boat transfer is expensive as well but not as incredible. The sea plane transfer was wonderful, fast and easy. I can assure you, you will have amazing memories from that flight.
OPT FOR AN "ALL INCLUSIVE" PACKAGE
You will feel free because you won't have to look at the prices which are very high and shown without tax, so you need to add about 23% on everything. You won't even have to withdraw any local money. I really had a peace of mind thanks to that. The average price of the buffet for two was 70$ without alcohol and taxes so it is worth it. Our package had the breakfast, lunch, diner, snack and alcohol included. The food was delicious with a buffet of salads, international mains, cheese, desserts, everything was just so fresh and tasty!
See below other resorts which offer the ''All Inclusive'' from the most affordable to the most expensive:
Meeru island & Spa (but boat transfer)
Reethi Beach Resort
Amari Havodda Maldives
Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu
The Sun Siyam Iru Fushi
BRING YOUR SNORKEL
Or you will be able to rent some for 10$/ day without taxes.
AVOID THE MONTHS OF JUNE, JULY AND AUGUST
You can go to Maldives all year long, the temperature is always around 28 degrees, just avoid the months of June, July and August because it is the rainy season.
I hope you will like the photos and if any question let me know.
