Capri c'est fini!!!!!!!!!!!
Arriving under a heavy rain, in condoms raincoats and soaking wet sneakers, trying to take the crowded funicular with massive suitcases, I wished our Capri trip would end sooner than what It was meant to!
But Thank GOD everything became brighter, our hotel ended up to be amazing and we got bluffed by Capri between vertigo, aperitivo, charm, paparazzis and amazing views!
WHERE TO STAY?
We stayed at Hotel Capri and we loved it! It's a 4 stars and the location was just perfect, so close to the Piazza, the bus stop and the funicular. The room was big with a balcony offering a stunning view on the sea, the flowery trees, the street and the mountains. Breakfast was also great with lots of choice.
WHAT TO DO?
1. Belvedere Punta Cannone
This is the most beautiful viewpoint, DO NOT MISS IT! To get there, go up the stairs from the piazza next to the church, keep walking straight under the archs. Then you will see some signs. Walk along the pretty secret path, far from the crowd, to the Belvedere view point.
2. Boat Tour
For the boat tour you have plenty of choice, private or public, we took the tickets at Marina grande with Laser Capri (about 20 euros). They go around the island going to the Blue Cave and famous Faraglioni, the two big rocks, symbol of Capri. Unfortunately the blue cave, la Grotte Azurra, was closed due to the rain.
3. L'Aperitivo on the Piazetta
Piazza Umberto 1: When you get off the boat at Marina Grande, you need to take the funicular and you are there. The heart of Capri. There are 4 bars with the same prices, all opened to 2 AM.
El Piccolo Bar is the oldest with a terrace on the 1st floor. The others are very similar: Tiberio, Gran caffe and Bar caso.
4. Augusto Gardens
Those gardens are about 10 minutes walking from the Piazza, small but lovely and offering an amazing view! For only 1 euro! At least something is cheap in Capri :)
From there, you can take the scenic path Via Krupp that links Augustos gardens to Marina piccola.
6. Anacapri, Villa San Michele and Mount Solaro
Visit the lovely village of Anacapri, the little streets and shopping is great, a little cheaper than Capri. I found some pretty sandals in one of the oldest shop, Sandalo Caprese di Antonio Viva . Then go up to Monte Solaro, the highest point in Capri (589m). Take the chair lift (15min). Be warned VERTIGO is guaranteed, I was not so confident up there but I did it! It takes 40 minutes to go down walking.
You can take the chair lift to come back if you don't have so much time (11 euros Return)
Not far from the bus stop, there is Villa San Michele, worth a visit with its beautiful gardens and magnificient view (I know again???!)
7. Marina piccola
Marina piccola is a little bay with a close view on The Faraglioni.
